26th freshART Auction and Party Set for Sept. 16
silentART Auction at BCM Aug. 18-Sept. 15 – Artists Reception 5-p.m. Sept. 1
Art lovers and collectors will have the chance to bid on original works by more than 50 local artists in live and silent auctions at freshART 2018 on September 16 at Behringer-Crawford Museum.
Tickets to freshART are $80 per guest or $125 for hosts, tax included. The event includes dinner by McHale’s Events & Catering and music by the Cliff Daly Band. Local 12 news anchor John Lomax will serve as emcee. For more information or for tickets, call 859-491-4003 or email info@bcmuseum.
The live auction, conducted by David Wallace, will offer three dozen works which will be created “live” that weekend in Devou Park and offered “fresh” that night. Artists will begin working in Devou Park en plein air on Saturday morning, completing their works in time for the program, which will take place in the museum’s outdoor amphitheater from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
The event also will include a silentART auction of previously completed works by two dozen additional local artists. The silentART auction opens to the public for bidding at the museum on Saturday, August 18 and continues through September 16. A silentART reception, with an opportunity to meet the artists, takes place at BCM from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, September 1.
A portion of the sale price of each auctioned piece will go to the artist; the balance will be donated to the museum, benefiting area children through BCM’s educational programs. Submitted artworks will be judged by a panel of experts, with $1000 in cash prizes awarded to the first, second and third-place entries by the William & Patricia Applegate Fund.
