Brown Bag Luncheon: Even Grump Hikes to the Picnic: "History of Devou Park Since 1910"

Aug. 17, 2017, 12 p.m.

Devou Park is historically significant for its use as an outdoor recreation and entertainment park. Covington was one of the many cities subscribed to the City Beautiful movement in the early twentieth century, leading it to establish Devou Park as a significant demonstration of those values. Public parks and open spaces were an important and central theme to the City Beautiful movement and ideas of civic harmony and renewal. Devou Park continues to serve as a free outdoor park to present day and retains the setting, feel and key elements of the historical park design, as envisioned by Covington officials and park designers. The lunch and lecture will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the BCM Education Center. Bring your own brown bag lunch. Drinks and desserts will be provided. Cost: $3 for BCM members; $10 for future BCM members. Reservations recommended: (859)-491-4003.
