Behringer-Crawford Museum is hiring a Visitor Services Associate
IMMEDIATE HIRE
Part Time Position
Working under the guidance of the Visitor Services Coordinator, the Visitor Services Associate provides frontline visitor support, customer service and sales assistance to visitors, the public and to BCM museum store customers.
The Visitor Services Associate will be a local cultural and history enthusiast who embraces the BCM mission and demonstrates an ability to work well with others. Values teamwork and understands the important role of visitor services in achieving these goals.

Provides for an enjoyable, aesthetically pleasing, educational and fun experience for museum visitors from the time they park to the time they drive off.

Must have superior people, communication, and sales skills. Ensures that members and visitors needs are properly attended to and provides information for exhibitions, events, programs, and memberships. Demonstrates exemplary ability to engage the public and handle customer service/visitor challenges for positive outcomes.

Generates earned income through the sales of admission tickets and other special events or programs tickets.

Promptly answers incoming calls from the BCM general telephone line, appropriately directs calls to correct person; takes the initiative to address inquiries at the Visitor desk (e.g., provide directions, exhibit, BCM history and general BCM information).

Maintains accuracy in admission, event, and special programs ticket sales; performs accurate cash drawer cash in and cash out procedures and reports discrepancies immediately.

Generates earned income to meet specific organization goals through promotion and sales of memberships.

Stays abreast of daily museum activities, meetings, tours, events, etc.

Reports any unusual activity to management, security personnel and Devou Park Rangers.

Maintains and provides for a clean and attractive facility and performs regular cleaning.

Assists in event set-up and provides support as needed.

Attends BCM staff meetings and exhibition training as required.

Maintains a clean and professional appearance and is prepared to work where assigned.

Arrives at the designated work location promptly and in time to serve visitors and customers.

Takes direction from designated supervisor and attends training and staff meetings as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Sales Floor
-
Is knowledgeable about store products and provides exemplary customer service throughout customer/visitor engagement. Understands the POS system; receives payments in cash, check and credit cards, and accurately records sales and results.

Maintains security and safety of the store inventory.

Maintains a clean environment of store floors and counters, including merchandise.
Cash Register

Is computer savvy and proficient in operating the POS system.

Capable of opening and closing out the cash register at beginning and end of sales day; can independently perform opening/closing procedures, including balancing the cash drawer.
Minimum Requirements

Exceptional people, communication and sales skills, ability to multi-task and remain calm in high-pace environment and stressful situation.

Highly self-motivated, energetic and takes the initiative to interact with the general public.

Able to use all related hardware and software.

Salary: BCM attempts to follow as closely as possible AAM and GuideStar salary standards for museums of our size and stature given our budgetary constraints.
